One funded cycle of reciprocal IVF is covered for eligible Ontario patients who meet the program criteria and is applied to the partner who intends to carry the pregnancy. The partner who undergoes the egg retrieval is covered under the other partner’s funded cycle.

Donor sperm
The use of donor sperm is an option for couples or individuals who either do not have sperm or are unable to have a child using their own. Sperm can be obtained from one of our vetted and trusted partner sperm banks.
Donor eggs
The use of donor eggs is an option for couples or individuals who either do not have eggs or are unable to have a child using their own. Eggs can be obtained from one of our vetted and trusted partner egg banks or through a known (directed) donor.
Reciprocal IVF
Reciprocal IVF is an option for same-sex female and/or transgender male partners in which one partner wishes to carry the pregnancy while the other partner wishes to use their eggs to create an embryo. The partner providing eggs undergoes an IVF cycle and their eggs are combined with donor sperm to create embryos. An embryo is then transferred into the uterus of the partner wishing to carry the pregnancy.
Gender-affirming care
Pollin Fertility is proud to support transgender individuals and couples through their gender affirmation journey. We offer egg freezing services for trans individuals with ovaries, and sperm freezing services for trans individuals with testes.
One partner undergoes ovarian stimulation and egg retrieval. The eggs are fertilized with donor sperm, and an embryo is transferred to the uterus of the partner who plans to carry the pregnancy.
Private reciprocal IVF at Pollin starts from $14,600 per cycle. Medications are additional and vary by protocol. Embryo transfer, annual storage after the first year, reciprocal IVF donor and medication costs, and extra testing such as PGT are also separate fees.

Pollin will provide a list of vetted egg and sperm banks. Frozen donor profiles may offer different information and identity-release options. The bank will coordinate donor records, genetic screening, and any legal paperwork required.
A known egg donor, such as a friend or family member, may also be an option for family building. Pollin will help assess the suitability of the donor through fertility testing, infectious and genetic disease screening, and provide legal and counselling resources prior to the treatment cycle.
Banked eggs or sperm are coordinated and shipped to Pollin. Frozen donor sperm may be used for IUI or IVF. Frozen donor eggs are thawed and fertilized to create embryos for transfer, freezing, or genetic testing when appropriate.
If using a known egg donor, they will prepare for, and complete their IVF and egg retrieval cycle. The resulting eggs will be fertilized with the intended parent’s sperm or frozen donor sperm to create embryos for transfer.
The donor completes fertility, medical, infectious disease, and genetic assessment. The donor and intended parent or parents also complete required legal and psychological counselling before consent and treatment.
No, Pollin does not currently have a surrogacy or known sperm donor pathway. We are working on expanding our program to include these in order to be fully inclusive of all family building needs.
Yes. Pollin offers egg freezing for people with ovaries and sperm freezing for people with testes. A consultation can help clarify timing and options in relation to gender-affirming care.
Yes, you do need a referral to see a fertility specialist in Ontario, however Pollin can facilitate one for you through an OHIP-covered, virtual appointment with our partner GP if you do not have your own GP.
You can book an initial consultation directly through our website without a referral and a member of our care team will contact you before your appointment date to get you set up with one.
