SATELLITE TESTING AND CYCLE MONITORING
TLDR: Convenient Fertility Care Closer to Home
Cycle monitoring (bloodwork and ultrasounds) is required every one to two days during IVF stimulation — commuting downtown for every appointment adds real stress to an already demanding process.
Pollin now offers cycle monitoring at satellite locations in Markham and Sudbury, with more locations coming soon!
Consultations can be done virtually — patients outside Toronto can begin their care with Pollin without setting foot in the city.
The Pollin patient app is the central quarterback of your care — results, instructions, and your care team, all in one place.
All Pollin patients can access any monitoring site — choose the location that works best for your schedule that day.
What Nobody Tells You About IVF Monitoring
When most people research IVF, they focus on the big milestones: the egg retrieval, the embryo transfer, the two-week wait. What often catches patients off guard is everything in between.
During a stimulation cycle monitoring appointments — bloodwork and ultrasounds to track how your body is responding to medication — happen every one to two days. For a typical cycle, that's anywhere from five to eight appointments in under two weeks.
For a patient living in Markham, Sudbury, or anywhere outside of downtown Toronto, that means five to eight trips into the city. During one of the most physically and emotionally demanding periods of your life. While your job, your family, and everything else keeps moving.
That's not a small ask. And we don't think it should be the norm.

What Is a Satellite Monitoring Location?
A satellite monitoring location is a Pollin-affiliated clinic site where patients can complete their cycle monitoring appointments — bloodwork and ultrasounds — without travelling to our main clinic at Yonge and Eglinton.
Think of it as bringing the most frequent part of your cycle to your neighbourhood, while keeping the specialized procedures — egg retrieval, embryo transfer — at our fully equipped Toronto clinic where your primary care team is based.
Your results flow directly to your Pollin team the same day, who review them and adjust your medication protocol in real time, exactly as they would if you were sitting in our Toronto clinic. The only thing that changes is where you show up in the morning.
Do I Have to Come to Toronto to Get Started?
No. And this is important for patients who live outside the city.
Initial consultations at Pollin can be done virtually. That means a patient in Sudbury, Markham, or anywhere else in Ontario can meet their Pollin doctor, review their history, discuss their options, and build their treatment plan — all without travelling to Toronto.
The visits that do require you to come in person, primarily your egg retrieval and embryo transfer, are planned well in advance, giving you time to arrange travel and accommodation if needed. Everything else — consultations, follow-ups, results reviews — can happen from wherever you are.
For many patients outside the GTA, this changes the calculation entirely. World-class fertility care is no longer contingent on living close to it.
Where Can I Get Monitoring Done?
Pollin currently offers cycle monitoring at three locations:
Pollin Fertility — Yonge & Eglinton, Toronto
Our main clinic. Full services including consultations, egg retrievals, embryo transfers, and cycle monitoring.
Pollin Satellite — Markham
Cycle monitoring for patients in the east GTA, York Region, and Durham.
Pollin Satellite — Sudbury
Cycle monitoring for patients in Northern Ontario — because world-class fertility care shouldn't require a move to Toronto.
More locations are coming. If you don't see a site near you today, stay tuned.
Why Sudbury?
Opening a satellite location in Sudbury is about more than convenience. It's a statement about who deserves access to advanced fertility care.
Patients in Northern Ontario have historically faced a stark choice: travel hours to a major city for every monitoring appointment, or forgo treatment altogether. That's an inequity that has quietly shaped who gets to pursue fertility treatment in this province — and who doesn't.
Pollin's Sudbury location changes that. A patient in Northern Ontario can now undergo an IVF cycle at one of Toronto's most technologically advanced fertility clinics without uprooting their life for two weeks. Their consultation happens virtually. Their monitoring happens locally. Their care team is at Pollin.
This is what greater access to fertility care actually looks like.

The Pollin App: The Central Quarterback of Your Care
Satellite monitoring only works if your care stays connected — and that's exactly what the Pollin patient app is built to do.
Whether you're monitoring in Markham, Sudbury, or Toronto, the app is where your cycle lives. It's how your care team reaches you with same-day results and updated medication instructions. It's where you track your progress, message your coordinator, and stay close to the science of your own cycle — without having to chase anyone down.
For patients using satellite locations, the app isn't a nice-to-have. It's what makes the whole model work. Your monitoring happens locally. Your Pollin team reviews everything centrally. The app keeps you in the loop in real time, wherever you are.
No phone tag. No waiting. Just clarity, when you need it most.
How It All Works Together
Here's what a cycle looks like for a Pollin patient outside Toronto:
Consultation — virtual. Meet your Pollin doctor from home. Review your history, discuss your options, and build your treatment plan.
Cycle monitoring — local. Attend bloodwork and ultrasound appointments at the Pollin satellite location nearest to you, as often as every other day during stimulation.
Results and instructions — through the app. Your Pollin care team reviews your results and sends updated instructions the same day, directly through the patient app.
Egg retrieval and embryo transfer — Toronto. These procedures take place at our Yonge and Eglinton clinic, planned well in advance so you can arrange your visit.
Follow-up — virtual or in person. Your choice.
This Is What Patient-First Care Looks Like
An IVF cycle asks a lot of you. It asks you to inject medications on a schedule, to be available for appointments at short notice, to hold hope and uncertainty at the same time — all while the rest of your life keeps going.
The least we can do is make sure the logistics work for you, not against you.
Pollin's satellite monitoring locations, virtual consultations, and patient app exist because we believe access to excellent fertility care shouldn't depend on where you live, how flexible your job is, or how much bandwidth you have left for a downtown commute. Every patient deserves care that fits their life, not the other way around.
