Penthrox Use Patient Instructions (for Endometrial Biopsy or Sonohysterogram or IUD insertion)

- What is Penthox?
- Penthrox is an Inhalation vapour used for the relief of moderate to severe pain in conscious patients
- It is very quick to wear off
- You will be advised to stay in waiting room from 15 minutes to 60 minutes as per the physician’s discretion, as it depends on your reaction to Penthrox
- You must have a ride home after you are discharged to home
- This medication will be prescribed to you, where you will pay for the medication on your Pollin App
- Confirm that you do not have any of the following. If you said yes to any, you cannot use Penthrox:
- History of family history of malignant hyperthermia
- Allergy to fluorinated anesthesia
- Significant kidney or liver impairment
- Notify the clinic of any known allergies, especially to anesthesia, antiseptics, or medications.

- Dry mouth
- Dizziness
- Drowsiness
- Amnesia
- Headache
- Nausea
- Appointment Preparation
- Confirm Appointment Details:
- Date and time of the procedure.
- Arrive 10-15 minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork and pre-procedure assessments.
- Pay for your Penthrox prescription on the Pollin App:
- Once paid for, the clinical team will provide you with the medication for use during your procedure.
- Transportation:
- Arrange for a responsible adult to accompany you and drive you home
- Avoid driving, operating heavy machinery, or signing important documents for the remainder of the day.

- After your procedure completion, if you have any questions, please reach out to your Primary Care Team via phone or your Pollin App chat.
