Itβs natural to feel overwhelmed sometimes, especially when it comes to the many different fertility medications. We are to help guide you through the process and ensure you feel confident, informed, and empowered. Remember, we are with you, every step of the way.
If your physician has ordered this medication as part of your treatment plan, here is more information for you.
Femara is also known as Letrozole.
It is used primarily to induce ovulation in infertility patients. It is considered an off-label use medication, as it is used for treatment of breast cancer by lowering the production of estrogen. For our purpose, we use this medication to increase the number of eggs in your cycle and induce ovulation.
Letrozole will be dispensed to you in a blister pack and comes in 2.5 mg tablets and is taken orally.
Depending on your prescribed dose, you typically will be given a 5 day course. Please take about the same time each day, with or without food.
This will be started in the early part of your cycle. The cycle monitoring nurses will ensure to advise you when to start. You will be monitored closely through blood and ultrasound while taking this medication.
